My name is Becky Loughlin, and I am the maker behind Ceramic Loughlin.

Ceramic Loughlin

I first started making pottery in 2018 because I needed a creative outlet to distract me from my stressful and demanding job as a civil engineer. I fell in love with wheel throwing while taking night classes at Lane Sun Community Center in Portland, where I threw on kick wheels that were donated to the school by nuns in the 1970s. I continued taking classes at Radius Community Studio, Morning Ceramics, and eventually became a member at The Mud Room.

In the summer of 2020, I joined Ware Ceramics in Southeast Portland and quit my stressful job. I started to become more serious about making pottery and learning the ins-and-outs of running a small studio. I currently work out of Fancy Banana Studio. I love making fun and functional pieces with bright colors on speckled stoneware clay. I am inspired by the ocean, the moon & stars, food, changing seasons, romance novels, nature & animals, country music, and all things vintage.
